All the crucial details are above in the pics - DO double click on any one of them to enlarge them full screen to see the details. One detail I will be adding eventually is a short video to show how the adjustability feature works... as thats a killer feature - totally makes this sling work as all of us have multiple boards we need to be able to quickly adjust between right!?! :-)

Summer of 2012 I was at "Teen Leadership Conference" (TLC) down at Baptist Bible College, Clarks Summit, PA. I'm a pastor in Syracuse NY, at the time, was 42 years old - and we'd brought a group of teens down to this teen leadership conference. Not sure what was in the water that year but EVERYONE was on a skateboard of some sort... from little things the size of my shoe... to ONE very VERY long longboard. Now... I've of course seen many skateboards over the years and always enjoyed watching the X-Games & such to see what the really skilled riders can do - love it! But, its not my thing as far as... me. I can't see me doing it. Love to watch, but it doesn't "ring my bell" so to speak as to something I'd want to do.
Anyways, one day I was walking back to the dorm I was being housed in and there were literally skateboards EVERYWHERE around me as I walked... and I paid them no attention... till I saw this girl / young lady smoothly "carving" down the paved, sloped parking lot in front of me on a board that was way WAY bigger than anything I'd ever seen. I was literally transfixed! I couldn't believe what I was seeing! I'd never seen such a thing - didn't even know what it was called - but I instantly knew that I had to find out what it was... and WHERE I could get one! :-)
I tried finding that girl / young lady all week long so that I could ask her the million questions in my head... but I only ever saw her off in the distance carving up some parking lot or driveway around campus. :-( So I ended up leaving the conference not knowing what that big surfboard / snowboard like skateboard thing was called!!! :-) ...so when I got home I just started googling "Big long skateboard." :-) Before too long Google led me to the correct name - "Longboard!" :-)
After a bit of research and a friends willingness to let me try his board out to see if I had any aptitude for this or not... :-) ...I ended up ordering an S-Original, Pintail 43 (wanted the 46 for the extra length, but wanted the Original trucks in the wider stance... and that was only available on the 43).
LOVE how this board carves... and thats what I'm into - THAT is what I saw and FEALT immediately when I saw the young lady do it at that conference. The ONLY thing I didn't like was that, while I live on a PERFECT road for long boarding (great hill!)... I hated the long walk back up the hill carrying my board (and the town wasn't willing to install a chair / ski lift so...). :-(
Board isn't all that heavy really, but it gains weight the further I carry it! :-)
And, adding to that... since starting to longboard I've been doing lots of reading on electric longboards and while I don't like any of the current ones on the market I've been emailing with one designer who has something in the works that looks like it might be the answer to my "needs" / "wants" in an electric longboard (and a lot lighter than the BEASTS out there right now!).
But, electrics aren't light! So... if I was already complaining about carrying S-Original up a hill... these HEAVY (in comparison) electrics would be a beast! (Why "carry" an electric you might ask, why not just ride it up the hill? Well good call - but, I'd like to electric longboard UP the hill, then ride my S-Original down the hill. Doing this would require me to carry ONE board at all times - the S-Original on my way UP the hill, and the electric on the ride DOWN the hill).
So, I started looking into ways to carry them (my current board and any future boards or electric boards)... and was very surprised to learn that there isn't much out there for sale... and what there is is STUPID expensive (these are glorified slings people - come on!). So, I started putzing with ways to build my own. Something flexible enough to fit pretty much any sized board... especially LONG boards I am hunting for for the future... and STRONG enough to hold the electric longboards I'm wanting in the future. What you see in the pics above is what I came up with. It's what I use every time I go out... as does my son, and all my friends who longboard. Words getting out - and so far the reviews have been positive... as its very flexible and - well, it works!
Interested in me making one for you, let me know.
PS - please don't try to talk me down on my price, please - twelve bucks is very reasonable... and, I've got two boys I've got to put through college, so I'd like to make at least a buck or two off of these if I'm going to go to the trouble to make em for people. Thats only fair... right?
